You are sitting in the living room with friends, sipping on your favorite glass of red wine. You reach to set the wine glass down but -yikes!- you miss the end table. Red wine spills all over the carpet.
You grab a wet cloth and pat the stain but the wine is not coming out. Thankfully, there are methods to remove wine from carpet. This article explains a step-by-step solution to removing red wine from your carpet.
The following method removes fresh red wine stains with products that are in most homes. You only require a white cloth, cold water, baking soda, and a vacuum.
- Blot as much of the red wine stain as you can using a white cloth. The more you can soak up, the less you’ll have to remove.
- Pour cold water directly onto the wine stain after you finish blotting. The cold water dilutes what remains of the stain, making blotting a bit easier. Continue blotting until no more of the stain comes out.
- Prepare a baking soda paste by mixing three to one ratio of water to baking soda. Apply the paste to the stain. Once the paste is dry, vacuum the wine stain.
